How to run Live SERP checks
Live SERP is for instant validation, spot checks and urgent searches. It runs for tokens and is more flexible than scheduled Standard monitoring.
Live SERP setup
Live SERP runs a SERP check immediately. Use it when you need a fast answer and do not want to wait for a scheduled monitor.
Live checks are token-based. They are useful for urgent validation, manual checks, launch verification, competitor spot checks and troubleshooting.
When to use Live SERP
- You just changed a page and want to validate whether it appears in search results.
- You need to check a small keyword set immediately.
- You want to compare a one-off domain or URL without adding it to project Standard monitoring.
- You are investigating a ranking issue and need a current SERP sample.
How Live differs from Standard
| Mode | Best for | Domain rule | Billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Scheduled project monitoring | Project domain and subdomains | Included quota first, then tokens if enabled |
| Live | Instant validation and spot checks | Flexible target domain | Tokens |
Step 1: Open the Live SERP page
Inside a project, open SERP → Live SERP. The form is similar to Standard, but the run starts immediately and uses tokens.
Step 2: Add keywords
Enter one keyword per line. Live mode is intended for smaller, urgent runs, so keep the keyword list focused.
Step 3: Choose location, device and depth
Choose the location, device, operating system and depth. Higher depth checks more result pages and therefore uses more tokens.
If you select all devices or all operating systems, SEOMER may create multiple checks for the selected combinations.
Step 4: Add a target domain or URL
The target domain helps SEOMER identify whether a domain or URL appears in the results. In Live mode, this field is flexible. You can use it for your own domain, a competitor domain or a specific URL you are validating.
Step 5: Review the token estimate
Before launching, review the estimated token cost and the balance after launch. If the estimate looks too high, reduce keyword count, depth or snapshot options.
Step 6: Create the check
Click Create check. The check appears in recent Live activity. Open the report to review positions, target detection, SERP items, features and snapshots if they were requested.
Tips for Live checks
- Use Live for fast answers, not routine daily monitoring.
- Keep depth low unless you need deeper positions.
- Use Standard monitoring for long-term project reports.
- Use Live checks for external domains instead of forcing them into a project monitor.
