Backlink donor index checks via SERP
SEOMER can check whether backlink donor pages are indexed by running a SERP-based check for the source URL. This helps separate useful indexed backlinks from links placed on pages that search engines may not show.
How backlink index checks work
A backlink can exist on a page, but that page may not be indexed. If the donor page is not indexed, the link may have less value for search visibility analysis.
SEOMER solves this by checking the backlink source URL through a SERP-based index check. The workflow belongs to Links, but it uses SERP infrastructure under the hood.
What is checked
For backlink index checks, SEOMER checks the donor/source URL. It does not check whether your target page ranks for a keyword.
Backlink placement:
Source URL: https://donor-site.com/article-with-link
Target URL: https://your-site.com/page
Index check:
Check whether the Source URL appears in search results.
How to run a donor index check
- Open the project.
- Go to Links → Placements.
- Select one or more backlink placements.
- Click Check index.
- Review the token estimate and confirm the action.
Status meanings
- Not checked: no index check has been run for this source URL yet.
- Queued: the check was created and is waiting for processing.
- Indexed: the source URL was found in search results.
- Not indexed: the source URL was not found in search results.
- Failed: the check could not be completed.
Why this is separate from Standard SERP monitoring
Standard SERP monitoring tracks the project domain for keywords. Backlink donor index checks validate external source URLs. Mixing these two workflows would make project ranking reports confusing.
That is why donor index checks are shown in the Links area and use a separate Priority workflow.
Best practices
- Do not check every low-value link automatically if you only care about important placements.
- Filter placements first, then check the links that matter.
- Use the index status filter to separate indexed, not indexed and failed donor pages.
- Recheck important placements periodically if their value matters to your link monitoring process.
